Creed has canceled its North American tour due to injuries singer Scott Stapp suffered in an automobile accident last week outside Orlando, Fla. A statement from the band says the singer's car was struck by another automobile at 60 miles per hour, and that his recuperation necessitates canceling the shows. Stapp is not in the hospital, according to the band's management.
The tour was due to kick off last night (April 29) in Fargo, N.D., and run through May 31 in Selma, Texas. Tickets for the canceled dates will be refunded at the point of purchase; no make-up shows have been scheduled. The band is eyeing a mid-summer return to the touring circuit.
Creed was to be touring in support of its latest Wind-Up album, "Weathered," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 last year and held the post for eight weeks. The set is No. 38 in its 22nd week on the chart, while the single "My Sacrifice" is No. 8 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 Tracks chart.
