Virgin has set an Aug. 13 North American release date for Marianne Faithfull's 11th album, "Kissin' Time," an eclectic set that pairs the singer with artists such as Beck, Billy Corgan, Pulp, and BlurVirgin has set an Aug. 13 North American release date for Marianne Faithfull's 11th album, "Kissin' Time," an eclectic set that pairs the singer with artists such as Beck, Billy Corgan, Pulp, and Blur. The album was released in March in the U.K. on Hut and received mostly positive reviews.
Faithfull recorded three tracks with Beck in Los Angeles, including "Sex With Strangers," "Like Being Born" and "Nobody's Fault." The latter is based around Beck's "Nobody's Fault But My Own" from his 1998 album "Mutations" (Geffen). Beck wrote the music and produced the three tracks, and brought out his full band for "Nobody's Fault."
Corgan first appeared onstage with Faithfull during Chicago's 2001 Waltz benefit, a concert to raise awareness for the Heartland Alliance's Neon Street, which benefits homeless teens. For the album, he wrote "Wherever I Go" and co-wrote "I'm on Fire."
Blur, which is at work on its long-awaited follow-up to 1999's "13," backs Faithfull on the title track. Pulp, which will release a new album, "We Love Life," July 23 via Sanctuary/Rough Trade, contributed to "Sliding Through Life on Charm," a song based on Faithfull's 1994 autobiography "Faithfull."
