Blake Shelton performs live on stage for the Citi Concert Series on NBC's TODAY Show at Rockefeller Plaza on Aug. 5, 2016 in New York City.

Country music star Blake Shelton will headline the first concert at Penn State University's Beaver Stadium.

The football stadium opened in 1960 and has been expanded to 107,000 seats in recent years but has never hosted a non-Penn State event.

The school firs announced plans for a concert at the team's Oct. 22 home upset over Ohio State, then revealed Shelton as the headlining performing during Saturday night's 41-14 win over Iowa.

The concert will be held July 8 and is billed as the Happy Valley Jam. The concert is being presented by Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and Basics Entertainment, a concert promoter.

Tickets go on sale Nov. 16.

Chris Young and the duo, Big & Rich, will also perform, with David Ray and Adley Stump opening the show.
