Sevyn Streeter's 76ers National Anthem Performance Canceled Over 'We Matter' Shirt, She Says

Sevyn Streeter had been scheduled to perform the national anthem at the Philadelphia 76ers' season opening game on Wednesday (Oct. 26), but the singer says she was told she couldn't because she was wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt. 

Streeter posted a video to her Twitter explaining the situation, showing her "We Matter" jersey that was apparently too controversial. 

"I'm at the 76ers game to sing the national anthem and the organization is telling me that I can't because I'm wearing a 'We Matter' jersey," she said, clearly affected. 

Billboard has reached out to Streeter rep and the 76ers organization for comment, but had not heard back by publishing.
