The album, compiled by guitarist Rich Robinson, will feature 19 songs drawn from last year's Oct. 30-31 stand at Boston's Orpheum Theatre.
Interestingly, for a band so renowned for its widely varied live performances, this is the Crowes' first proper U.S. live album. The group's 1999 tour with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was documented on the TVT set "Live at the Greek," but did not include any Black Crowes songs due to contractual issues. The band has previously issued two live EPs, 1998's "Sho Nuff" (Columbia) and the 1999-import only "Souled Out Live."
The upcoming album spans the Crowes' repertoire, with such favorites as "Remedy," "Hard To Handle," and "She Talks to Angels" present alongside album cuts like "Wiser Time," "Girl From a Pawnshop," "High Head Blues," and "Sting Me." Six songs from the group's 2001 V2 debut "Lions" are featured, including the singles "Lickin'" and "Soul Singing."
The one rarity to be found here is "Title Song," which has been an infrequent part of the band's live sets since 1993, although a studio version of the cut has never been officially released. It was first recorded during sessions for the lost album "Tall," which also yielded songs eventually placed on the studio albums "Amorica" and "Three Snakes & One Charm." Prior to its live airing at the Oct. 30 show, "Title Song" had not been played live since December 1996.
As previously reported, Crowes frontman Chris Robinson is working on his solo debut album and will be road-testing new songs during a short tour later this month.
