Meghan Trainor Talks Writing With Harry Styles & Showing Off Her New Man on Netflix's 'Chelsea': Watch a Preview
Fresh off her Untouchable Tour, Meghan Trainor stopped by Chelsea Handler's Chelsea talk show on Monday to talk new music, relationships and songwriting with Harry Styles. Billboard was on set for the episode, which premieres Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. on Netflix, and we have a sneak peek of their chat below.
Even though the comedian and pop star have never met before, both were equally as excited to sit down and talk about what's been going on in Trainor's career and what's next. "Just writing for the next album," Trainor said of her plans. "It's like therapy for me."
Before she gets started on her next album, the "All About That Bass" singer talked about involving everyone in her life in the songwriting process. "Sometimes I'll have my best friend, who's my personal assistant, help me rhyme one word with another, and now she has writing credits on my album," Trainor said. "I always need help."
Trainor also talked about writing for other artists, including her brand-new "Someday" duet with Michael Buble, which she co-wrote with One Direction alum Harry Styles. "I started writing the song and I met up with Harry and played him a part of it on the guitar and asked, 'Do you like it?'" Trainor recalled in a nervous voice, "And he said, 'Oh, I love it!'" Word about the song reached Buble's team and he picked it up for his just-released album Nobody But Me.
Additionally, Trainor was very open about her new relationship with Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara. "I've been friends with Chloe Grace Moretz for a while now. and I've told her before, 'Get me a boyfriend!' and she told me she had a really nice friend named Daryl that I had to meet, and we did!" Trainor said. "I was really scared to go public with him because I didn't want him to get attacked and I warned him about it, but I posted a photo of us and no one was saying mean things."
