Lady Gaga Wears Marc Jacob After SNL Performance
Lady Gaga and Marc Jacobs have long had a close relationship: Before the “Joanne” singer walked in the designer’s Fall 2016 runway show in February (sporting 1920s finger waves and a neo-goth look), the pair met in 2010, when Gaga attended the Spring 2010 show and performed at the afterparty.
The star added another Jacobs look to her wardrobe this weekend, donning a purple fur bolero, paisley-print blouse, pink satin high-waisted shorts and orange aviator sunglasses for the finale and after party of her Saturday Night Live performance. Plucked straight from the designer’s Spring 2017 runway, the outfit was originally worn by model Irina Shayk (who, along with Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss and Kendall Jenner, sported colorful faux dreadlocks with the psychedelic looks).
But the best part of Gaga’s Saturday night ensemble? A pair of 8-inch platforms -- another signature from Jacobs’s spring runway -- done in pink and purple leather, with rainbow-stripe crystal embellishments.
The boots are just another example of the singer’s penchant for towering footwear: In 2010, she wore Alexander McQueen’s Armadillo shoes for her "Bad Romance" video (last year she acquired three pairs of the iconic footwear from a Christie’s auction for a reported $295,000). At last year’s Oscars, she paired a graceful custom Azzedine Alaïa white gown with the designer’s 8-inch metallic stilettos. And the singer reportedly walked out of Jacobs’s Fall 2016 show and straight back to her hotel wearing his sky-high boots.
Given the fact that Jacobs’s Spring 2017 collection includes almost 20 different platform styles, we’re betting another pair will show up on Gaga’s feet soon enough.
