Sharon Jones Cancels White House South by South Lawn Performance Due to Pneumonia
Her band the Dap-Kings will still perform with Binky Griptite and Saun & Starr covering for Jones' absence.
Sharon Jones will not be performing at the White House's South by South Lawn event on Monday due to pneumonia, the singer announced in a Facebook post.
Jones wrote that she is home in Augusta, Georgia, recovering from the infection and is "too sick to travel."
Jones' band the Dap-Kings will still be performing, Jones said, with her Daptones label-mates Binky Griptite and Saun & Starr joining them to cover for her absence.
The South by Southwest-inspired South by South Lawn will also include performances the Lumineers, Gallant, DJ Beverly Bond and Black Alley, as well as President Barack Obama, Leonardo DiCaprio and climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe, who will discuss climate change and screen DiCaprio's new documentary Before the Flood.
