In June, Cobi's debut solo single, "Don't You Cry For Me," hit No. 1 on the Spotify Viral 50 chart.

The tune caught the ear of 300 Entertainment founder and CEO Lyor Cohen, who was named global head of music at YouTube on Wednesday (Sept. 28). Cohen signed the singer/songwriter, making him label-mates with Grammy nominees Fetty Wap and Highly Suspect.

Fans who have been patiently waiting to hear more from Cobi now get to hear his second single, titled “Prophet Story,” shared exclusively with Billboard before its official release. Listen here:

“This song is about a prophet who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders," Cobi explained. "He's often treated like a vagrant, an outcast from society.”

A former member of the now-defunct Boston rock band Gentleman Hall, Cobi left the band in 2014 for Los Angeles, seeking to play more soulful rock and folk.
