Spirit Music Group Teams Up With Global Entertainment

Spirit Music Group has signed a long-term strategic administration and co-publishing deal with Global Entertainment, the multi-faceted music company behind Ellie GouldingCorinne Bailey Rae, Jungle, The Script, LMFAO, The Vaccines and the Vamps, among others.

In addition to ensuring that Global’s writers and catalogs are well taken care of, "The deal also fits well into Spirit’s aggressive growth in the UK market (on the heels of our deals with B-Unique and Polar Patrol) as well as continuing Spirit’s strong growth in North America,” Spirit Music Group chairman David Renzer said in a statement.

The Global Entertainment catalog includes “Superheroes” by The Script; “I Need Your Love” and “Outside” by Calvin Harris featuring Goulding; “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy And I Know It” recorded by LMFAO; “Busy Earnin’” by Jungle; “Love Me Again” by John Newman; “Hey Baby” by No Doubt (via Rodney Price); and “Lights,” “Anything Could Happen” and “Burn” by Goulding.

“Spirit’s international reach, creative strength and administrative platforms make them an incredible music publishing partner,” Tabor said in a statement.

Global Entertainment Reportedly Hit With Layoffs

In addition to its publishing catalog, Global Entertainment also comes with music assets and capabilities, including touring, record label, publishing, artist management, branding/sponsorships and marketing divisions, as well as being the U.K.’s largest commercial radio company, which reaches 30 million people every week.

The deal caps a series of moves made under Renzer that has seen Spirit acquiring an interest in the Sea Gayle catalog; launching Spirit Music Latino; acquiring Polar Patrol, which includes songs written by Snow Patrol and Belle & Sebastian; acquiring Cal IV Entertainment, which has publishing, production and artist management capabilities; and expanding into Christian with the acquisition of the West Main Music catalog.
