Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson has signed with Best Buy-affiliated Redline Entertainment and is working on his solo debut album, "New Earth Mud." The set is tentatively due later this year, but Robinson has been road-testing more than a dozen new songs, including "Katie Dear," "Mint Tea," "Untangle My Mind," and "Safe in the Arms of Love," at concerts in North America and Europe.
Robinson will head back on tour for another 10-date North American jaunt beginning Aug. 15 in Seattle and wrapping Aug. 28 in Toronto. In addition to the new songs, Robinson has also been performing such covers as Bob Dylan's "You're a Big Girl Now," the Grateful Dead's "Comes a Time," Fred Neil's "The Dolphins," and Traffic's "Evening Blue."
As previously reported, the Black Crowes will release a two-disc live set Aug. 27 via V2. The album will feature 19 songs drawn from last year's Oct. 30-31 stand at Boston's Orpheum Theatre, including such favorites as "She Talks to Angels" and "Wiser Time" alongside the previously unreleased "Title Song."
