The 'Stranger Things' Cast's Musical Talents: From Psych Rock to Broadway & More
By now, if you're not watching (or finished with) the Netflix sci-fi drama Stranger Things, you're officially behind. But beyond the hit show's excellent acting and supreme storytelling, the cast is a bevy of unspoken musical talent. Who knew?
From Broadway actors to rock band drummers, here are is a sampling of the Stranger Things cast's musical talent.
Millie Brown (Eleven):
Last year Eleven actress Millie Brown started casually uploading performance videos to her Youtube channel, singing Adele and others. But after filming Stranger Things (you can tell from the hair) she picked it up again, covering Amy Winehouse, John Legend, Birdy and more. Watch her sing John Lennon's "Imagine" here:
Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair):
Seeing how Caleb McLaughlin got his break on Broadway playing Young Simba in The Lion King, it shouldn't come as any surprise the kid can sing. Check him out breaking into song during this interview below, starting around the 4:40 mark:
Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler):
Finn Wolfhard stood out in Stranger Things playing Mike Wheeler, the emotional core to the group of young boys. In a video he released recently on Twitter, he again tapped into that emotion -- though channeling a different era -- performing a guitar cover of the Nirvana favorite "Lithium." The response was so positive that Wolfhard promised a new, full-length cover coming to his YouTube page soon.

Joe Keery (Steve Harrington):
Just because Joe Keery's Steve Harrington character doesn't seem to give a damn about underground music (he does spend a bit too much time picking on the punk-loving Jonathan Byers character after all), but don't let that fool you. In real life, Keery is drummer in Chicago psych-rock band Post Animal, showing he's got a bit of a nerdy music fan inside of him yet.
Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson):
Much like McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo started out on Broadway, scoring early roles in Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Les Misérables. Still, even if you're expecting it, hearing Matarazzo is a true joy. Watch him sing at what looks to be a kid's birthday party, performing the best version of Les Miz's "Bring Him Home" that Chuck E Cheese's has ever seen.
Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers):
As Stranger Things' most well known cast member, Winona Ryder has been acting since she was a teenager in the 1980s. With her long, fruitful career, we've gotten a sense of her skills as a skillful lip-sync performer in Beetle Juice and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion's awesome "Talk About The Blues" music video, but seldom has she put her own singing out there. That's with the exception of one wonderful scene in 1999's Girl, Interrupted where she plays a charming cover of "Downtown" by Petula Clark that's sure to put a smile on your face.
