The American Idol season nine alum -- who previously appeared in productions of The Color Purple and Memphis -- will debut as “Lola” on Nov. 1, he announced on his YouTube channel.

In typical Hall fashion, he made the announcement in song. Set against the backdrop of Times Square, Hall took a stroll through the streets as he rapped, "Extra, Extra, spread the news/Toddy's on Broadway in Kinky Boots."

“When I was 20 years-old I had the honor of making my Broadway debut in The Color Purple. Since then I have had the opportunity to travel the world, work for my idol Beyoncé, compete on American Idol, star in my own show on MTV, and perform in my own International concert tours… but my heart still belongs to Broadway,” Hall wrote.

“I am so unbelievably excited to announce that this Holiday season I will be joining the cast of the Tony Award winning Broadway musical, Kinky Boots. Beginning Nov. 1, I will be stepping into the heels of Lola, a role originally created by one of my biggest inspirations and dearest friends, Billy Porter,” he added.

Hall is currently on tour supporting his visual album, Straight Outta Oz.
