Dr. Dre has had a brush with the law. The Hall of Fame-inducted hip-hop musician, producer and entrepreneur was reportedly placed in handcuffs and issued a citation after another man claimed he brandished a handgun during a confrontation in the driveway to Dr. Dre's home.

Police officers were called to a situation at Dre’s home in Malibu before midday on Monday, according to a press release from Malibu authorities. The man who made the call claimed he had stopped in front of the musician’s home and was ordered to leave by Dre -- real name Andre Young -- who allegedly pulled a handgun. Dre denied pulling a gun.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said Dre, a co-founder of N.W.A and Beats, was "searched, handcuffed, and briefly detained in a patrol car" while they investigated the incident.

Officers said Dre was cooperative and consented to the search. He denied all allegations regarding a handgun, and police released him noting no weapon was found at the scene. Dre's lawyer declined to comment on the incident.

Dre is one of the biggest earners in the history of hip-hop. According to Forbes, his net worth tops $710 million, a sum which takes into account Apple's $3 billion purchase of Beats Electronics and Beats Music (which he founded with Interscope-Geffen-A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine) in 2014, and his myriad music and business ventures, which include last year’s Straight Outta Compton biopic and a portfolio of southern California real estate. N.W.A. was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this year
