Tori Kelly paid tribute to the late Christina Grimmie by penning a beautiful yet heartbreaking song in the singer’s memory. Kelly grieves the loss of Grimmie in “Blink of an Eye,” which she shared on YouTube on Sunday (July 10).

Remembering Christina Grimmie, a Friend Who'd 'Come Up and Give You a Hug'

"What were your last words? / Happened so fast / Can't help but think who you would be / If you just had the chance to turn 23,” she sings, lamenting The Voice singer’s untimely death. Grimmie was fatally shot by a crazed fan at the young age of 22 on June 10, following a concert in Orlando.

Later in the song, Kelly goes on: “When you took your last breath / You had so much life left / Can't help but think it could've been me out there / Chasing a dream when suddenly it all stops in a heartbeat.”

“this song was written for christina grimmie after she passed away tragically. i needed to write this song,” she wrote in the “Blink of an Eye” video caption. “thank you to my good friend, zac poor, who was brave enough to take on the challenge of writing it with me. my heart was & is still so heavy when i think of her not being with us. however, i am still comforted knowing that i'll get to see her again someday in heaven. my prayers go out to her family & loved ones.”

“even though this song had specific meaning,” she added, “more recently i'm overwhelmed at the pain & the brokenness in the world today, & so this is really just me grieving. at all of it. life is so short. thanks for listening, i love you guys.”

Shortly after the song was shared, Justin Bieber -- who broke down when he honored Grimmie at one of his recent concerts -- tweeted to Kelly: "you have a special gift. God bless."
