Saxophonist Dave Koz has rounded up a group of friends to hit the road this winter on his sixth annual A Smooth Jazz Christmas Tour. Set to kick off with a two-night stand Nov. 29-30 at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe (Calif.) Incline Village, the trek will feature Koz pals David Benoit, Rick Braun, Brenda Russell, and Peter White.
"I am so excited to have everyone back from last year," Koz said in a statement. "We will do some new stuff and bring back some old favorites as well. With the show now in its sixth year, we have become some sort of a family and I really like it. We just go ahead and do it and have a good time."
Last year's Capitol release "A Smooth Jazz Christmas" by Dave Koz & Friends (Benoit, Braun, Russell, and White) earned a best pop instrumental Grammy nomination. The set topped Billboard's Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and peaked at No. 19 on the seasonal Top Holiday Albums tally.
