John Mellencamp has unveiled more than three weeks' worth of U.S. tour dates, set to begin Nov. 1 in Evansville, Ind., and wrap Nov. 26 in Madison, Wisc. The trek includes Mellencamp's first official show in his Bloomington, Ind., homebase since April 1999, although he played an impromptu set at a Indiana University campus field in August 2000 as part of his Live in the Streets: the Good Samaritan tour. The artist also delivered the school's commencement address that May.
Before the new dates, Mellencamp will perform at both upcoming Music To My Ears concerts to benefit the family of late Billboard editor in chief Timothy White. As previously reported, the shows are set for Oct. 7 at Boston's FleetCenter and Oct. 8 at New York's Madison Square Garden. The Boston lineup features Roger Waters, Billy Joel, Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, Sting, and James Taylor; those artists, minus Taylor and Joel, will also play in New York along with Jimmy Buffett and Brian Wilson.
Mellencamp is out in support of his latest Columbia album, "Cuttin' Heads," which debuted at No. 15 on The Billboard 200 in November 2001 and has sold 443,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
