Demi Lovato inserted herself into one of the Internet's favorite pop feuds with less than 30 characters last Friday (June 17).

Demi commented on an Instagram meme which unfavorably compared Ariana Grande to Mariah Carey, implying the long-running diva was superior to the newcomer. After Demi stumbling upon the pic, she commented, "You got the wrong way around honey," igniting even more fan wars in the comments section.

After a barrage of comments from Mariah's fans, known as the Lambily, Demi defended her out-of-left-field comment. "This is why I posted what I did," she said. "Jen keeps it classy but I'm not afraid to say shit. The woman is mean for no reason."

"Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely," she added.

Mariah Carey Explains Iconic 'I Don't Know Her' Comment About Jennifer Lopez

The "Jen" in question is possibly Jennifer Lopez. Mariah infamously said she didn't know of the singer in an interview from the early 2000s, inspiring countless "I don't know her" gifs and memes. Fans have traced the origin of their feud to possible record label disputes (both were signed to Sony Music's Epic Records) and Mariah's ex-husband and former Sony exec Tommy Mottola.
