Ricky Gervais' Film About David Brent's Music Career Coming to Netflix

Netflix has grabbed the U.S. and select international rights to Ricky GervaisDavid Brent: Life on the Road in which the British funnyman returns to his roots as the iconic character, extending his relationship with the U.S. streamer. Netflix acquired the foreign rights to the film, excluding the U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, where Entertainment One plans a theatrical release in August 2016. Netflix will debut David Brent: Life on the Road on its streaming platform in 2017.

The feature-length film sees a documentary crew catching up with David Brent 12 years after the BBC2 documentary The Office. Brent is now a traveling salesman, chasing his dream of rock stardom by self-financing a U.K. tour with his band, Foregone Conclusion.
