Ed Sheeran is currently embroiled in a lawsuit after songwriters Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard (along with their publishing company HaloSongs) claimed that his 2015 hit "Photograph" derives from their 2009 song "Amazing." Matt Cardle, the winner of the 2010 season of The X Factor in the U.K., recorded "Amazing" but isn't part of the lawsuit -- although that hasn't stopped some overeager Sheerios from going after him on social media.

Cardle took to Twitter on Thursday (June 9) -- the day after the lawsuit was reported -- to distance himself from the legal drama and give props to Sheeran.
