The Avalanches appear poised for a comeback, but at this point it's just a bit unclear what that will look like. The long-dormant Australian cut-and-paste act has reportedly been working on a follow-up to their 2000 breakthrough, Since I Left You, for more than a decade.

The Avalanches Announce Comeback Shows

On Monday they gave long-suffering fans hope for new music with a cheeky 2:16 teaser clip, "Since They Left Us," which jokingly alludes to the very long lay off and false starts while stoking expectations for a new album thanks to jokey cameos from Father John Misty, Danny Brown, Ariel Pink and Royal Trux's Jennifer Herrema.

It's another sign that things are looking up for followers of the enigmatic electronica collective in the wake of the recent revamp of their social media sites, which are now sporting a golden butterfly. It's been reported that Herrema, Brown and Pink have all recorded bits for the new album. In the meantime, the Avalanches have booked a string of upcoming live dates, kicking off with a June 3 slot at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona.
