The Whitney Houston estate has canceled a planned duet between The Voice coach Christina Aguilera and a Houston hologram slated to air on the show next week after deciding that some details weren't finished yet before it was leaked. The powerhouse vocal throwdown would have aired on the show's upcoming season 10 finale, but in a statement given to Entertainment Tonight, estate executor Pat Houston said the timing wasn't right.

Whitney Houston Hologram Coming in 2016

Footage of the Aguilera/Houston medley featuring such hits as "I'm Every Woman" and "I Have Nothing" leaked on Wednesday and while the vocals were, of course, flawless, a number of people commented on how the hologram didn't look enough like Houston. In September, the CEO of Hologram USA teamed with Houston to announce that the Houston hologram would be performing in a "major U.S. venue" this year.

"The Houston Estate and Hologram USA are united in our efforts to present a hologram of Whitney Houston that honors her legacy," reads a statement from Houston and Hologram USA. "Though the hologram technology behind the duet with Christina Aguilera worked flawlessly, The videos that were leaked of The Voice performance simply were still 'a work in progress' and not ready to be judged. The support from fans has been overwhelming, and the plans for the Whitney Houston hologram tour are on track."

Michael Jackson Hologram Rocks Billboard Music Awards: Watch & Go Behind the Scenes

The dream of holographic recreation of dead pop stars has been elusive over the past few years, with a handful of successes -- including the Michael Jackson hologram that performed at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards and the Tupac resurrection at 2012's Coachella. Among the other stars resurrected on stage are Elvis, for a 2007 duet with Celine Dion on American Idol, M.I.A. and Janelle Monae for a cross-country performance in 2014 and Ol' Dirty Bastard re-teaming with the Wu Tang Clan at Rock the Bells in 2013.
