SiriusXM Art of Rap Festival Features Public Enemy, Ice-T, Sugarhill Gang, EPMD & More

Ice-T helped announce one of the summer's biggest hip-hop events on Monday (May 9), the SiriusXM Backspin Presents The Art of Rap Festival 2016. The all-star line-up for the show that will hit eight cities in July and August features a hall of fame-caliber group of rap icons, including Public Enemy, Naughty by Nature, Mobb Deep, Grandmaster Melle Mel & Scorpio, MC Lyte, EPMD, the Sugarhill Gang and Kurtis Blow.

The show, hosted by Chief Rocker Busy Bee, will kick off on July 16 with a show at the Gexa Pavilion in Dallas, Texas. "Hip-hop is the most powerful and influential cultural movement since rock and roll. A true art form that deserves respect," Ice-T said in a statement announcing the tour, which he cooked up with Pay Up Management's Mickey Bentson as an extension of the rapper's 2012 documentary Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap.

SiriusXM listeners will get a chance to buy tickets early for the tour on Thursday (May 12) at 10 a.m., before they go on sale to the general public.

Aug. 5: Chicago, IL - Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Aug. 6: Detroit, MI - Freedom Hill Amphitheatre
