David Gilmour let his guitar do the talking when he launched into a surprise Prince tribute on the weekend.  

The former Pink Floyd frontman unleashed a mash-up of the prog-rockers’ 1979 classic "Comfortably Numb" with Prince’s 1984 standard "Purple Rain" when he played London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday night. The stage was aptly drenched in purple for the special moment.

Gilmour, who is supporting his latest solo album Rattle That Lock, played the show as a special benefit for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Watch the epic performance below.
