Prince performs at Day 2 of the Coachella Music And Arts Festival on April 26, 2008 at Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California.

Prince was taken to the hospital early Friday morning (April 15) following an emergency landing of his private plane, Billboard has confirmed.

A rep for the musician first told TMZ that he has been fighting the flu for several weeks while out on his Piano & a Microphone tour, leading to previous cancelations of two concerts on April 7. But His Purpleness had wanted to perform Thursday in Atlanta, despite not feeling well.

After the show, his condition worsened while on an airplane and made an emergency landing after 1 a.m. EST in Moline, Illinois, where he was taken to a hospital and treated. He was reportedly released three hours later and flew the rest of the way home, where he is now.

Billboard has reached out to a rep for Prince but hadn't heard back as of press time.

Prince performed at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Thursday night. He is 57 years old.
