While Blink-182 preps to release its first new music with Matt Skiba, Mark Hoppus found some time to star in a music video for rising indie fave Day Wave.

Instead of shooting a traditional video together for the gentle lo-fi gem "Stuck" off Day Wave's Hard to Read EP, Hoppus filmed himself reacting to a fictitious Day Wave music video starring Burt Reynolds and featuring a guest appearance by Chewbacca and some "space nipples." Inspired by the ongoing online trend of reaction videos, this clip features a sublime moment where Hoppus raves, "Only Burt Reynolds could bring all these animals across the desert like that!" [Note: No animals or Burt Reynoldses were harmed, or involved, in the making of this video.]

Day Wave Talks Ditching Synth-Pop & DIY Approach

In an exclusive statement to Billboard, Hoppus explains his love for Day Wave (whom he first heard on Apple Music's Beats 1) and how the video came together.

"Jackson's music is catchy, fun, brooding, melodic, and dreamy all at the same time. I've been a fan since first hearing it a year ago," Hoppus says. "The video is clever because I'm reacting to what I see on the screen, which the director hastily put together the night before the shoot. Someday I'd like to see the actual video made with full production. It makes for a compelling story."
