Grimes to Headline Wizard World's First Comic Convention Concert Series

Grimes performs at the O2 Academy Brixton in London on March 10, 2016.

The music and comic book galaxies are coming together for a special you-didn’t-see-this-coming event.

Wizard World is adding a music concert component to its comic convention this summer, with Grimes confirmed as its first headliner.

The Canadian electro-pop artist will lead the New Music Concert Series, billed as the first-ever music concert series to accompany a comic con. It’ll launch at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory on June 3 (with Hana in support) to coincide with the June 2-5 Wizard World Comic Con.

Grimes (real name Claire Boucher) is currently touring the U.S., and there's a chance she could road test new material with the Philly crowd. She recently told Rolling Stone she’s making good progress on the followup to 2015’s Art Angels. "I'm actually halfway done with another record,” she said. “I’m not committing to anything, but I have a bunch of B-sides I kind of want to finish.”

The comic con tie-in shows will continue with New York singer and songwriter Melanie Martinez at an unspecified date and location.
