Eight Artists Tie For Grammy Nominations Lead

Album of the year nods went to the Dixie Chicks' "Home" (Monument/Sony), Eminem's "The Eminem Show" (Web/Aftermath/Interscope), Jones' "Come Away With Me" (Blue Note), Nelly's "Nellyville" (Fo' Reel/Universal), and Springsteen's "The Rising" (Columbia).
The nominees for record of the year are Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles," Eminem's "Without Me," Norah Jones' "Don't Know Why," Nelly's "Dilemma" featuring Kelly Rowland, and Nickelback's "How You Remind Me."
Female artists dominated the best new artist field, which saw nominations for Ashanti, Michelle Branch, Jones, and Lavigne, as well as singer/songwriter John Mayer.
The Dixie Chicks, Alan Jackson, Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, and Remy Shand all garnered four nominations. A host of acts earned three nominations, including Elvis Costello, India.Arie, Erykah Badu, Johnny Cash, Dr. Dre, and No Doubt.
The 2003 Grammys will welcome several new categories. Nominees for the inaugural best contemporary R&B album award are Ashanti's "Ashanti" (Murder Inc./Def Jam), Brandy's "Full Moon" (Atlantic), Faith Evans' "Faithfully" (Bad Boy/Arista), Floetry's "Floetry" (DreamWorks), and Meshell Ndegeocello's "Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape" (Maverick).
Nominees for the first-time best urban/alternative performance Grammy are "Little Things" by India.Arie, "Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip Hop)" by Erykah Badu featuring Common, "Gettin' Grown" by Cee-Lo, "Floetic" by Floetry, and "Be Here" by Raphael Saadiq featuring D'Angelo.
