From 1992 to 1998, the late Garry Shandling's parody talk show The Larry Sanders Show welcomed some of music's most influential artists to perform and guest star alongside Shandling and his sidekick, played by Jeffrey Tambor.

With a "host" whose resume included experience as an actual guest host on The Tonight Show, it's no surprise that a satirical talk show on HBO was able to score non-satirical performances from some of the biggest names in music, including Sting, Tom Petty, Paul Westerberg, Warren Zevon, Clint Black and Colin Hay.
