Justin Bieber has just dropped a bombshell on his army of Beliebers: he won’t do any more meet-and-greets.

The pop superstar has shared a post on Instagram in which he put his decision down to feeling “drained and unhappy” from other people’s “spiritual energy”. When the Canadian singer gets up close and personal with his fans, he leaves “feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression,” he explains.

“Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression,” he writes in a message accompanied with a picture of himself hugging a cute kid. “The pressure of meeting people's expectations of what I'm supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders. Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised.”

Bieber's management has a slightly different line. The team confirmed the cancelation of all future meet-and-greets, which reportedly cost $2,000, while citing a "security incident" which led to a rethink. A "VIP hangout" has been touted as an option. "This is a new tour with new venues almost every night and still a changing process, but we have decided for the time being that this is our best course of action," management explained in a note tweeted overnight.

Bieber’s 114-show world tour in support of his Purpose album moves to the Garden Arena at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Friday (March 25). He played the final of three shows at L.A.'s Staples Center tonight.

Love u guys.. I'm going to be canceling my meet and greets. I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.. Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression .. The pressure of meeting people's expectations of what I'm supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders. Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised. Can't tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn't so hard on me.. And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I'm in to give you the best show you have ever seen ;)
