As previously reported, the 53-year-old Gibb died early yesterday following last week's emergency surgery for a blocked intestine that was complicated by cardiac arrest prior to the procedure.
"All of us at Kovac Media Group are deeply saddened by Maurice's passing," the band's manager, Allen Kovac said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with Maurice's family and his many friends and fans who loved him. He was a truly talented artist and a wonderful man full of wit and passion for life. We know that our sorrow is shared by those he touched in the music industry and by millions of music fans across the world."
Kovac has asked that in lieu of flowers, for contributions to be sent in Maurice's name to the Andy Gibb Memorial Foundation, c/o Dade Community Foundation, 200 South Biscayne Blvd./Suite 505, Miami, Florida 33131-2343, or to the charity of the sender's choice.
Meanwhile, Gibb's brothers and fellow group members Barry and Robin told the BBC that they were "devastated" by the sudden death of their sibling. Barry said he was not present to know the details of his brother's treatment and vowed to "pursue every factor, every element, every second of the timeline, of the final hours of Maurice's life. We will pursue that relentlessly. That will be our quest from now on."
