Keith Caulfield answers readers' questions about Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera, and Daniel Bedingfield.

Hi Keith,

I've heard from various sources that Janet Jackson was going to make another album this year. Do you know if that's true and if so, do you know when it will be out? I think I heard it was the last album she owed on her Virgin contract. I'm not too sure of specifics, though.

Hi Colleen,

According to various reports, Janet Jackson will release a new studio album this year. It is highly likely that Jermaine Dupri will be producing tracks on the album, though the extent of his contributions is unclear at this point. The set will be released through Virgin, but a release date has not been announced yet.

The new set will be Jackson's follow-up to 2001's "All For You," which debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has since sold 3 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

I was wondering whether there is a planned release for Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" as a commercial single? I was expecting her to go No. 1 this week on Billboard's Hot 100 but was upset to see it fall to No. 3, despite gaining more airplay. Do you think the song still has a chance to top the chart, especially if the single is released? I have been such a huge fan of hers since the 1998 single "Reflection" and was hoping she can earn her fifth chart-topper. Hope you can answer my question!

Hi John,

RCA, Aguilera's record label, has no immediate plans to release "Beautiful" as a commercial single. The album cut still has a good shot at hitting No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100, as it is still gaining in airplay.

Aguilera's previous Hot 100 No. 1s are "Genie In a Bottle," "What a Girl Wants," "Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)," and "Lady Marmalade," her "Moulin Rouge" collaboration with Lil' Kim, Mya, and Pink.

Who is Danny Benefield? I heard a really beautiful song on a London station and it is new. But I cannot find him anywhere. Have you any information?

Thank you,

Hi Zirde,

Perhaps you are thinking of Daniel Bedingfield? He reached No. 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 in September with "Gotta Get Thru This." The Island album of same name has sold 190,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
