Update: Beasties, Chili Peppers To Headline Coachella

The Beasties, who are working on their first Grand Royal studio album since 1998's "Hello Nasty," will be playing just their third live date since the 1999 Tibetan Freedom Concert in East Troy, Wisc. The trio will also perform at a revived version of that event in April in Japan.
Other acts set for Coachella include the White Stripes, Queens Of The Stone Age, Sonic Youth, Badly Drawn Boy, Primal Scream, Tortoise, Johnny Marr, Ben Harper, N*E*R*D*, the Donnas, Jack Johnson, the Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Joseph Arthur, Black Eyes Peas, Cat Power, Hot Hot Heat, and the premiere of performance art troupe the Blue Man Group's new full-production concert show.
As usual, the festival will also boast some of the top names in electronic music, including Underworld, Groove Armada, Timo Maas, Richie Hawtin, Darren Emerson, Dirty Vegas, Thievery Corporation, Fischerspooner, Felix da Housecat, and Ladytron. A series of artists from the stable of independent hip-hop label Def Jux will also perform.
Tickets will go on sale Saturday (Feb. 22). This year, a campground is being set up adjacent to the Empire Polo Field, with the potential to accommodate 5,000-10,000 campers. Last year's Coachella event drew 55,000 people over the course of two days.
