Keaton Simons Donating Proceeds From 'The Way It Goes' to Children & Animals
The singer/songwriter is close to completing his new EP.
The recent release of singer/songwriter Keaton Simons’ new single “The Way it Goes” has attracted some major attention -- including love from David Duchovny, The Script, Tea Leoni, Paul Reiser, Lance Bass, Greg Grunberg, Josh Kelley, and American Idol alums Chris Daughtry, Paul McDonald and Didi Benami -- and it's all for a good cause.
Proceeds from the song -- a sexy, soulful, dark piece co-written by Simons and producer John Nathaniel -- will benefit Natural Child and Rancho Cucamonga Animal Care and Adoption Center. Simons is the voice of The Natural Child audiobook, written by Jan Baron Hunt, and a lifelong lover of animals.
Mastered by Tom Coyne, winner of three Grammy Awards for Adele, Taylor Swift and Sam Smith’s albums, the song also showcases the world music and blues influences that inform Simons' sonic landscape. The California native wraps his pensive vocals ably around the lyrics, “While you're hiding, I'm here dying, that's just the way it goes” against a moody swirl of drums and guitars.
Simons’ music has been featured in several television shows, including Sons of Anarchy, Hollywood Heights, Private Practice, NCIS: Los Angeles, Crash, American Dad, Harper's Island, The Cleaner, and Suits. He appeared on Duchovny's show Californication, portraying a rocker dude for the 2014 season finale.
Last summer he released the song “When I Go” (co-written by Laura Goldfarb and Smith Carlson) which was featured on the finale of Suits and garnered a nomination for best song in a television show/digital series at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
The 37-year-old musician's pedigree includes working alongside Snoop Dogg, Gnarls Barkley, and most recently, Chris Cornell, adding his guitar flourishes to a beautiful cover of Sinead O' Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" (written by Prince).
His music is set to be included in the forthcoming Robert Pattinson film Good Times. He is heading back into the studio putting the finishing touches on the follow up to his 2013 album, Beautiful Pain, and will hit the road this summer for a slew of live dates.
Simons made an appearance in 2011 on VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew alongside his stepfather, actor Eric Roberts, a patient on the show. Simons performed his original composition, "Unstoppable," on the program. The song sold 10,000 downloads on iTunes in just two days.
"The Way it Goes" is available for download on iTunes.
