'It's on Us' Campaign Gets Almost 10 Times More Pledges After Lady Gaga's Oscar Performance
Lady Gaga's emotional Oscar performance shined a light on the Obama administration's It's on Us campaign, which Vice President Joe Biden discussed while introducing the singer at Sunday's show -- and now we know just how big an impact the moment had.
According to sources, It's on Us received 37,401 pledges since Gaga's performance -- almost 10 times as many pledges as the typical 4,000 per week. There were also 231,194 visits to the website Biden mentioned. Plus, the Twitter hashtag #ItsOnUs reached 348.67 million impressions since Sunday.
It's on Us challenges pledge-takers to make specific commitments to help end the nationwide epidemic of sexual assault on college campuses. If you visit the site, it proclaims, "It's on us to RECOGNIZE that non-consensual sex is sexual assault, to IDENTIFY situations in which sexual assault may occur, to INTERVENE in situations where consent has not or cannot be given, to CREATE an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported."
