OK, the Foo Fighters won’t be breaking up. And there won’t be any Dave Grohl solo projects.

Grohl and his fellow Foo Fighters have masterfully trolled us all with a 24-hour tease of an “official band statement" and the big reveal which caps-off days of frenzied social media chatter about a possible band implosion.

Foo Fighters Tease 'Official Band Announcement'

The Foos have now shared a seven-minute-long video in which Grohl plays the part of a frontman-turned-douche who believes the hype surrounding his solo Grammys performance and sets forth on his new career path. The rocker tries his hand at EDM, and cranks out a cheesy ballad: “I want to be free, free to be… me. Can’t you see, now it’s just me/And now, I’m free, to be me, just me. Not those other three, or four. Or how many more.”

Meanwhile, his bandmates assemble for the video to discuss potential candidates for the now-vacant frontman position, with Prince, Justin Bieber, Liam Gallagher among those touted for the shortlist.

And then, just in case folks didn’t catch the joke, the band auditions Nick Lachey with the song "Everlong." Still not sure if it’s a gag? Well, the “official band announcement” is revealed at the end: “For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up. And nobody’s fucking going solo!”
