Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers have signed a multi-year exclusive booking agreement with Oak View Group (OVG) to bring more "premium" music content to Dodger Stadium.

Launched last November by Irving Azoff and former AEG chief Tim Leiweke, OVG is an L.A.-based “invitation only” platform geared toward boosting revenues at member arenas and stadiums through content acquisition, more efficient operations, and increased sponsorship opportunities.

Through this new pact with the Dodgers, OVG will leverage its extensive music industry relationships to bring live music to Dodger Stadium. Leiweke is a highly respected sports and entertainment executive whose resume includes stints atop Anschutz Entertainment Group and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment; Azoff, perhaps the most well-known artist manager ever with clients including Christina Aguilera and Bon Jovi, is partnered with Madison Square Garden Entertainment in Azoff Madison Square Garden Entertainment (AMSGE), which operates the Forum in L.A., among many other ventures, brings to OVG his relationships and AMSGE ventures to bear as an OVG board member, and AMSGE as an OVG financial backer.

The Dodgers and Dodger Stadium join such major arenas as Prudential Center, Newark, N.J., Philips Arena in Atlanta, Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York, the Forum in Los Angeles, and Tampa Bay’s Amalie Arena.  In announcing the launch of OVG, Both Leiweke and Azoff have stressed that OVG is not in the concert promotion business, and Dodger Stadium will remain an open building, working with all promoters in the business. “We will be creative on bringing all of our partners together and figuring out how as a group we can change the dynamics of the industry -- a positive disruption -- and we will let them guide us as to what they’re interested in,” Leiweke told Billboard when OVG was launched back in November.

In a statement announcing the Dodgers relationship, Leiweke says of OVG members, “Music can be a second anchor tenant to these facilities and we believe in that model to help drive more revenue for our clients.” Azoff adds, “Los Angeles is a special place for me, and has been very good to me, so to now have a vested interest in both the Forum and Dodger Stadium puts a big smile on my face.  These are two of the best places to see live music anywhere in the country."

Opened in 1962, Dodger Stadium has a rich -- if somewhat limited -- musical history, having hosted the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, KISS, Madonna, the Bee Gees, Elton John, Simon and Garfunkel, Michael Jackson, David Bowie, Genesis, Eric Clapton, U2, the Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, AC/DC and the Three Tenors.
