Ariana Grande Sends Love and Prayers to Celine Dion Following Death of Husband, Brother

Upon hearing about the devastating losses that Celine Dion has faced over the past few days, Ariana Grande expressed her condolences to the singer on Twitter.

Celine Dion's Brother Daniel Dies

Dion’s husband, René Angélil, died on Jan. 14 at age 73 after battling throat cancer. Only days later, on Jan. 16, Dion’s brother Daniel, 59, also passed away. He had brain, tongue and throat cancer.

Grande tweeted, “my heart is just breaking for @celinedion. sending all the love and prayers imaginable.”

René’s funeral will take place at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal. A Chapel of Rest is scheduled to be open for the public to pay their respects on Jan. 21 from 2 to 9 p.m. A religious service will take place on Jan. 22 at 3 p.m.

A visitation will be held for Daniel on Jan. 23 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. at Salon Charles Rajotte in Repentigny. Funeral services will follow a few days later at St-Simon-et-Jude Church in Charlemagne.

“The family requests that in honour of their brother’s memory, their privacy be respected in this time of grief,” reads a statement that was released on Dion’s website on Jan. 16.
