David Bowie's Family Announces Plans For Private Funeral Service

The relatives of David Bowie are getting ready to pay their last respects to the legendary musician.

“The family of David Bowie is currently making arrangements for a private ceremony celebrating the memory of their beloved husband, father and friend,” the late artist’s official Facebook page announced today (Jan. 14). “They ask once again that their privacy be respected at this most sensitive of times.”

No date, location, or other details about the service has been shared.

The post encourages fans to pay tribute to Bowie through concerts and other tributes, but asserts, “none are official memorials organized or endorsed by the family.”

Bowie passed away Jan. 10 at the age of 69, following an 18-month battle with liver cancer.
