Turns out, Coheed and Cambria's singer Claudio Sanchez also loves Adele’s “Hello”. Who doesn’t, right? Only, Sanchez also has the talent to deliver a beautiful, stripped down cover of the modern-classic.

Coheed and Cambria Announces 2016 U.S. Tour, Premieres 'You Got Spirit, Kid' Live Video

The singer’s acoustic version of "Hello" premiered on Conan O'Brien's Team CoCo site and is a world away from the modern prog rock titans’ usual output. "For my mother, who told me the new Coheed record is just as good, if not better, than the new Adele," Sanchez wrote in a message published with the recording. "Honestly, what else is a mother supposed to say to her son? I love you, mom."

Coheed and Cambria are on a new trip altogether. The act recently dropped The Color Before the Sun, an album that leaves sci-fi concepts behind and saw Sanchez writing about himself for the first time in years. They’ll support the top 10 release with a European tour starting Jan. 22 in Madrid. Check the dates here.
