Sandaime J Soul Brothers & Carly Rae Jepsen Lead Billboard Japan's Year-End Charts

DREAMS COME TRUE tops albums chart. Plus: Fan voting starts for the Billboard Japan Music Awards.

Billboard's sister organization Billboard Japan has revealed its 2015 year-end chart rankings and launched its fan voting campaign for the Billboard Japan Music Awards 2015.

Sandaime J Soul Brothers from EXILE TRIBE's "R.Y.U.S.E.I." topped the year-end Japan Hot 100, which concurrently combines physical and digital sales, radio airplay, Twitter mentions, YouTube views, Gracenote look-up and streaming counts based on lyrics displayed on PetitLyrics.

Though "R.Y.U.S.E.I." was released in 2014 and landed at No. 19 on the chart's 2014 year-end rankings, the song became a long-lasting hit through Twitter, YouTube and streaming, helping the song cross over to a wider audience, ultimately leading to increased physical and digital sales.

The Year in Pop 2015: Taylor Swift, '1989' & 'Uptown Funk' Rule as Top Artist, Album & Song

DREAMS COME TRUE's DREAMS COME TRUE THE BEST! Watashi No Dorikamu ranked at No. 1 on the year-end Hot Albums chart, which was revamped this June to include digital sales and Gracenote look-up in addition to physical sales. Arashi's Japonism beat out DREAMS COME TRUE THE BEST! Watashi No Dorikamu in pure physical sales, yet combined data revealed DREAMS COME TRUE to be No. 1 and Japonism placed closely behind at No. 2. With numerous streaming services launching within Japan this year, this win proved J-pop's transition into a new phase of music consumption from its heavy reliance on physical sales.

Carly Rae Jepsen's infectious hit "I Really Like You" led the Hot Overseas Chart, while Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" (which spent a record-breaking 13 weeks atop the Hot Overseas Chart) placed at No. 2, with Billboard Japan's Year-End Radio Songs Chart and Billboard's 2015 Year-End Hot 100 chart-topper Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" feat. Bruno Mars following closely at No. 3.

In addition, users are able to get an in-depth look at the growth of tracks and albums during their chart runs on the year-end Hot 100, Hot Albums and Hot Animation chart via their freemium chart analytics service "CHART insight."

With the year-end charts revealed, voting has also commenced for the annual Billboard Japan Music Awards. Fans are able to vote on their favorite song ranking in the year-end Hot 100 via Twitter with the hashtag #BJMA2015 or by singing the song on any of Daiichi Kosho's karaoke systems through Dec. 31. The winner will be announced Jan. 15 and crowned artist of the year at the Billboard Japan Music Awards 2015.
