Billboard Bits: 'Jingle Bell Rock,' Dion, McLachlan

BeyoncéBeyoncé, Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson the first artists confirmed to appear on a new Fox holiday television special. Slated for Dec. 15, the hour-long show has the working title of "Jingle Ball Rock." A full lineup is expected soon.

In other Fox news, the network will tap one of its biggest franchises for another special with the Jan. 1 broadcast of "American Idol: Life on the Road." The hour-long show will give an inside look of the U.S. concert tour undertaken earlier this year by the show's second-season finalists. It will be followed by the second part of the "World Idol" special competition launched on Christmas Day.

Celine DionCeline Dion has canceled "A New Day" performances Wednesday (Dec. 3) and Thursday in Las Vegas in the wake of her father's death. The artist plans to attend private family services during that time. Performances are scheduled to resume Friday at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Those holding tickets for the shows are urged to contact the original point-of-purchase for refunds or exchanges.

Sarah McLachlanOn Dec. 16, Arista will issue in the U.S. the formerly Canadian-only Sarah McLachlan set "Remixed." Originally released in 2001 in the Great White North by Nettwerk, the album features songs from the artist's 1992 album "Solace," 1994's Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" and the 1997 set "Surfacing" reinvented by the likes of William Orbit, BT, DJ Tiesto, Rabbit In The Moon, Fade and Dusted.

The U.S. release will also add the Tiesto's "In Search of Sunrise Remix" of the Delerium track "Silence," which features McLachlan's vocals. The original recording appeared on the 1997 album "Karma," and was co-written by McLachlan with Delerium's Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb. The track was also featured on Arista's 2000 soundtrack to the film "Bounce."
