"I chose “Mad World” because it’s simply one of the darkest, gloomiest songs to ever become a hit," said Postmodern Jukebox leader Scott Bradlee

Haley Reinhart has a new duet partner. The American Idol season 10 alum has teamed up with the "Sad Clown With the Golden Voice"--aka Puddles Pity Party -- for a vaudevillian take on the Tears for Fears new wave classic, "Mad World."

The video, where Reinhart is dwarfed by the seven foot tall clown, is the latest in a series of new entries featured on Postmodern Jukebox's brand new website, launched this week by leader Scott Bradlee.

"This remake came together quite quickly; Puddles stopped by unannounced, in typical Puddles fashion (he also surprised us at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago just recently!)," Bradlee wrote on his website. So I decided to give Haley a call to see if she was around to stop by, perhaps while wearing a fun hat!"

Bradlee said the difference in height made for a fun juxtaposition in the tradition of old vaudeville, as Puddles--the gloomy one -- begins the song as a dirge and the bubbly Reinhart joins in to liven things up.

"The contrast here couldn’t be any clearer, as Haley tries her best to shake Puddles out of his sad sack mood and embrace the existential whimsy of it all," he explained. "She may have even taught him a few new dance steps in the process."

Bradlee said he picked the song -- covered by Gary Jules in the movie Donnie Darko and famously performed by Adam Lambert on American Idol -- for a specific reason.

"I chose “Mad World” because it’s simply one of the darkest, gloomiest songs to ever become a hit," he said.
