Taylor Swift interviews Alessia Cara about "Here."

Taylor Swift is such a big fan of 19-year-old singer Alessia Cara that she invited the Canadian singer/songwriter to join her onstage during her tour stop in Tampa, Fla., a few weeks back to sing the hit single "Here." Yahoo! then filmed a sit-down interview between the two singers backstage, of which they just posted Part 1 today.

In the video, Swift asks Cara how she felt performing in front of the 55,000 fans in Tampa ("I went to my dressing room and I bawled my eyes out because of you, so thank you for making me cry," Cara replies) and compliments her for writing the first hit song "about a party being lame."

Cara, whose debut album Know-It-All was released Nov. 13, tells Swift that "Here" came from a real experience she had at, yes, a very lame party.

"It’s funny because now I hear that it gets played at parties," she says. "If you think about it, it’s such a miserable song for a single. But it worked, right?" She also talks about what it was like growing up with two Italian immigrant parents, how she had "this weird accent" when she was younger ("but it works now"), and how she started singing at a very young age, even though she was afraid to do it in public.

"You're not a loner though," Swift reassures her. "It’s less of a loner vibe and more of a 'very in touch with reality' vibe."

Nice spin, Tay.
