David Bowie Releases Creepy Clip From 'Blackstar' Short Film

David Bowie’s Blackstar Trailer

David Bowie’s Blackstar Trailer

The teaser promises an intense companion piece to the singer's forthcoming single

The title track off David Bowie’s 2016 album ? (pronounced "Blackstar") will be released Nov. 20, accompanied by a short film directed by Breaking Bad alum Johan Renck. Today the 30-second trailer for the film went live online. Ahead of Nov. 20, both the single and film will have their premiere at Brooklyn’s Nitehawk Cinema.

The trailer features a bejeweled skull in an astronaut's helmet, convulsing half-naked men, gyrating scarecrows, a solar eclipse viewed from a barren planet and Bowie himself clutching some kind of Blackstar emblazoned bible. Though the album itself doesn’t drop until Jan. 8 (Bowie’s 69th birthday), it looks the collaboration between the Ziggy Stardust singer and Swedish helmer already promises enough trippy material to ponder between now and then.
