John Mayer Posts Thank You for 'Accepting' Him Into Dead & Company

With the first leg of the Dead & Company's fall and winter tour nearly wrapped, John Mayer took a moment to say thank you to the Grateful Dead fans out there.

Posting to Instagram early Tuesday morning, he wrote, the Dead & Company tour with original Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart has been "It's been a beautiful, intense and all-encompassing ride since the beginning."

The Dead & Company's tour began Oct. 29 in Albany, N.Y., with the first leg wrapping at the end of the month in Las Vegas on Nov. 28.

Mayer continued, saying he hasn't had the words to express what playing with those legends for such an audience has meant for him but would try. 

"Thank you for accepting me," he wrote. "Thank you for letting me help take you to *that place*... I think this sums everything up: every time someone comes up to me and mentions having seen one (or more) of these shows, the question in my mind is never 'how was I?' but 'how were you?' Because I'm only here, with my five brothers-in-arms, to take you 'there.' Thank you Bob, Billy, and Mickey. Thank you Jeff and Oteil. And thank you kind friends everywhere. Now, on with the shows..."

The Dead & Company tour commences with shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles Dec. 27-31.
