Though he probably wasn't supposed to, Nile Rodgers has revealed his seminal disco funk band Chic is going to play Coachella next year.

The news comes from a feature on Rodgers in the New York Times that ran Friday (Nov. 6).

The story states, "He is helping to score Hugh Jackman’s new one-man show, and it’s going to be 'insane." Coachella called him and booked Chic to perform at the festival for the first time next spring, right around the time he is due to hit 64. How 'awesome' is that?"

Rumors are pretty standard leading up to Coachella, which runs this year from April 15-17 and April 22-24. (The most popular of late being LCD Soundsystem will reunite for the festival.) But this seems to come straight from Rodgers.

Otherwise, Chic is expected to release a new album called It's About Time sometime soon, but no date has been announced. The band was also recently nominated for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a tenth time.
