Justin Bieber on Selena Gomez Breakup: 'I Don't Know If I'm Still Over It Yet'

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber arrive at the Vanity Fair Oscar party hosted by Graydon Carter held at Sunset Tower on February 27, 2011 in West Hollywood, California.

Justin Bieber has pretty much been an open book when it comes to his love life. Just hit play on his recent releases "Sorry," "Where Are U Now" and "What Do You Mean?" His feelings for Selena Gomez following their longtime romance, though, have been a question mark -- until Access Hollywood's recent interview.

As the show’s Artist of the Month, the 21-year-old hitmaker got candid about his upcoming album, Purpose, and the content inspired by his relationship with Gomez, whom he dated from 2010 to 2013.

“It was really tough. I don't know if I'm still over it yet,” he told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush. “I think that I'm definitely in another place, and I think we've definitely went our separate ways. I love her and I want her to be awesome, but there are things that remind me of her."

Bieber even offered the backstory to a Selena-related track called “If I Would Have Met You in 5 Years” that didn’t make the album.

“How true is that? How many people go through life and end up meeting someone and it feels so right, but it's just the wrong time. So many people can relate to that,” he explained.

While the possibility of Bieber rekindling the flame with Gomez isn’t entirely out of the question, he's keeping his focus on personal growth.

“I don't know what is going to happen in the future,” he said. “I think we both gotta do some, some soul-searching ourselves, and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other.”
