Alanis Morissette Shares Unreleased Track Written with 'Jagged Little Pill' Producer Glen Ballard

“The Bottom Line,” the first song Alanis Morissette ever wrote with Jagged Little Pill producer Glen Ballard within an hour of their initial meeting in 1994, has never been released. Until now.

The song has been made available to stream in advance of the special 20th anniversary editions of the Canadian singer’s third full-length album and Maverick Records debut that went on to sell more than 33 million copies. A four-disc "collector's" edition and two-disc deluxe version of Jagged Little Pill comes out Oct. 3on Rhino. The "Bottom Line" stream is only available Oct. 23-Nov. 30

Only 30,000 copies of Jagged Little Pill: Collector’s Edition will be available worldwide. The set includes remastered audio of the original 1995 album, a disc of 10 unreleased demos from the era selected by Morissette, a previously unreleased 1995 concert from London’s Subterranea (her U.K. live debut), and 2005’s Jagged Little Pill Acoustic

The same day a two-disc deluxe version comes out that includes the remastered original album and the disc of unreleased demos. Both collections will also be available digitally.

“I’m super excited to share this music with a whole new generation of peeps, as well as people who have grown along with me over the last two decades,” says Morissette. “Thankfully, these songs have stood the test of time for me, and in their timelessness, I am thrilled to honor and reflect on them as well as the last twenty years of my life and career.”
 
The set also includes Morissette’s personal never-before-seen photos, a new essay reflecting on the Jagged Little Pill era, and stories behind the 10 demos recorded between 1994-98.

Ballard oversaw mixing and mastering for the collector’s edition. “Twenty years has not diminished the energy and excitement we captured on these recordings from 1994,” he said in a press statement. “It’s been a joy to sit with these tracks after two decades and to find them in such good shape. The power of digital recording gives us this time machine and, although we are twenty years older, this music still sounds fresh!”
