Troye Sivan Announces Debut Album 'Blue Neighbourhood,' Adds Tour Dates

Troye Sivan has revealed details for his long-awaited debut album Blue Neighbourhood, which is to arrive in time for Christmas and will get a push with newly-announced live dates in the U.K., Europe and his homeland, Australia.

The rising pop singer and producer’s first full-length effort is set for a global release on Dec. 4. Fans who pre-order will receive "Talk Me Down," a love song lifted from the album and produced by Emile Haynie (Lana Del Ray, Eminem, Bruno Mars).

“It’s all autobiographical,” says Sivan of Blue Neighbourhood, which features collabs with the likes of Broods, Tkay Maidza, Alex Hope (the Sydney-based songstress is credited as co-writer of half the album tracks) and young pop composers Bram Inscore, Brett McLaughlin and Allie X. “It takes place in both the suburbs of Perth where I’ve grown up, which I consider to be my blue neighborhood, but then also in this fast-paced, crazy, whirlwind life that I’m now living in hotel rooms and planes. And it takes place inside the mind of a 20-year-old kid. I wanted to make sure that youthfulness was there; I worked mostly with really, really young people on this record.” Sivan shared the album artwork via his social media accounts.

News of Sivan’s album rollout comes on the heels of the release of his EP Wild, which received social media praise from superstars Sam Smith and Taylor Swift and reached No. 1 in Australia, and No. 5 in the U.K. and U.S.

Sivan’s previous mini-album release, TRXYE, also peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

The six songs on Wild, according to a statement issued by his record label EMI, will serve as “act one on this expanded electronica opera that is Blue Neighbourhood.”

In support of his forthcoming release, Sivan has announced a pair of intimate shows in Australia, starting Nov. 12 at Sydney’s Metro Theatre, and a four-date mini-tour of the U.K. and Europe, beginning Nov. 19 at London’s O2 Islington Academy and wrapping Nov. 30 at Stockholm’s Debaser Strand. Sivan’s first North America tour kicks off tonight (Oct. 15) at Neumo’s in Seattle, WA. Tickets for those dates sold out in under 30 minutes, a rep says.
